과학논술능력 향상을 위한 과학적 사고력에 근거한 과학글쓰기 교수법

오늘날의 과학교육은 과학지식을 가르치는 교육에서 과학적 사고력을 향상시키는 교육으로 전환하고 있다. 그래서 과학교육의 중요한 목표로서 과학적 사고력을 함양시킬 수 있는 수업을 설계하고, 실행하는 방식을 이해할 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 과학적 사고력에 바탕을 둔 과학글쓰기 교수법을 개발하고, 이 교수법이 과학논술능력 향상에 얼마나 효과적인지를 알아보았다. 그 결과 과학적 사고력을 요구하는 과학글쓰기는 귀납적 사고력 5종, 연역적 사고력 7종, 비판적 사고력 5종, 창의적 사고력 6종으로 총 23종의 유형으로 분류되었고, 과학글쓰기 활동이 과학적 사고력 향상에 효과가 있음을 확인하였다. 그리고 과학글쓰기에 적합한 수업모형은 STS 수업모형에 바탕을 둔 실생활 및 사회적 문제해결 중심의 수업모형이었다. 또한 과학글쓰기 수업을 받은 학생들의 과학논술능력이 과학적 사고력 부분에서 그렇지 않은 학생들보다 향상됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

Modern science education is being moved away from the teaching of science knowledge to the improvement of students' scientific thinking. Thus, there is need for designing lessons to improve scientific thinking and understanding ways of implementing the lessons in a way of achieving an important aim of science education. This study introduces a science writing teaching method developed with a focus on scientific thinking and examines its effects on students' scientific essay writing ability. The results of the study suggest that students' scientific thinking has been improved by the use of a total of 23 science writing activities that included 5 inductive thinking skills-based activities, 7 deductive thinking skills-based activities, 5 critical thinking skills-based activities, and 6 creative thinking skills-based activities. A STS-based class model centered on practical and social problem solving was found to be most appropriate for teaching science writing. The study also found that science essay writing ability was improved more by those who took science writing lessons than by those who did not.
