사이버공간과 몸 교육

사이버공간은 물리적인 몸의 한계를 벗어나 인간의 마음을 자유롭게 하는 공간이며 평등한 공간으로 간주되곤 한다. 우리의 몸은 필요 없고 정신이 작용하는 데카르트적 공간이 사이버공간이라는 것이다. 그러나 이와 같은 몸의 폐기에 대한 생각이 우리에게 미치는 영향은 무엇인가? 사이버공간에서는 몸이 필요 없는 것이 아니라 우리의 몸에 대한 기존의 의미가 변화되어야 하는 것은 아닌가? 본 논문은 사이버공간에서 몸을 둘러싸고 제기되고 있는 여러 가지 문제점을 탐구함으로써 몸의 의미를 재해석하고 이를 토대로 몸 교육의 방향을 탐구하였다. 사이버공간에서의 몸의 문제는 인간존재, 자아, 정체성의 문제와 연관되어 있다. 사이버공간과 관련하여 몸 교육은 학생들에게 테크놀로지와의 관계를 통해서 자신의 몸의 의미를 인식하고, 더 나아가 자신의 존재를 재구성할 수 있는 능력을 길러주는 것이다. 우리는 물리적인 몸뿐만 아니라 사이버 몸에 이르기까지 확장된 몸에 대한 시각과 그 의미를 이해할 필요가 있다. 또한 실세계에서의 정체성과 사이버공간에서의 다중 정체성을 조화롭게 하기 위해서 서사적 정체성 교육을 논하였다. 몸 교육의 방법으로는 가상현실 체험 시스템, 토론, 대화, 글쓰기, 서사의 방식을 제안하였다.

Cyberspace has often been recognized as a liberal space of mind forgetting about the body. But we are required to reinterpret the meanings of bodies as well as human beings through the advent of cyberbodies. The meanings of bodies are concerned with the definition of human, self and identity. I explored the meanings of bodies and the direction of body education through several problems concerning bodies in cyberspace. Body education related cyberspace means the education for students to understanding meanings of bodies, furthermore, to cultivating capacities to reconstruct their beings through their relationships with technology. We need to understand the views of extended bodies and their meanings from physical bodies to cyberbodies. Narrative identity is useful to the harmony between real self and virtual self, the harmony among virtual selves. It is to construct identity through telling multiple selves. I suggested lived experience, discussion, dialogue and narrative as methods of body education.
