문장제 유형 및 그 구성요소가 문제해결에 미치는 영향 분석

오늘날 학교 수학은 실생활과 관련된 수학의 필요성이 강조되면서 그 가운데 문장제의 역할이 더욱 부각되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 초등학교 수학 교과서의 ‘문자와 식’ 영역에 제시된 문장제를 분석한 결과를 토대로 하여 학생들이 문장제의 유형 및 그 구성요소가 문제해결에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 4개 초등학교에서 3학년 학생 222명, 4학년 학생 214명, 6학년 학생 208명을 대상으로 하여 선행 연구의 문장제 분석 결과를 반영한 검사지가 작성되어 투입되었으며, 그 결과를 분석하여 문장제 유형에 따른 문제해결에서의 정답률과 문제해결에 직․간접적으로 영향을 미치는 문장제의 구성요소에 대해 살펴보았다. 일반적으로 교과서에 많이 등장하는 문장제 유형일수록 문제해결에서 성공하는 확률이 높게 나타났으나, 이와 함께 본 연구에서는 문장제의 구문론 측면에서 볼 때, 불필요하거나 불충분한 수치 정보의 포함 여부에 따라 문제해결에 영향을 미치고 있으며, 그리고 의미론 측면에서는 연산구조 여부, 연산의 단계 및 연산의 종류에 따라 문제를 해결하는 과정과 정답률에서 차이를 보이고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 초등학교 수학에서 학년을 구분하여 문장제 유형과 그 구성요소에 따른 문제해결능력을 살펴본 것으로, 문장제를 구성하는 다양한 요소들과 그에 따른 유형, 그리고 문제해결 사이의 관련성을 검토하는 데 그 의미가 있다.

Today the importance of word problems increases as the relation between mathematics and real life is emphasized in school mathematics. Therefore elementary mathematics textbooks deal with various types of word problems. In this paper, we focus on word problems in 'letters and expressions' domain of elementary mathematics textbooks, and analyze the difference of children's ability to solve word problems according to the word problems types. First, we make the two kinds of tests － 3․4th grades test(222, 214 students) and 6th grade test(208 students) － and analyze the differences of children's ability to solve word problems. Second, we investigate various factors which influence word problem solving.

In the case of the type of word problems which students have more experienced, the correct answer ratio are appeared highly as compared with otherwise cases. On syntax aspects, number of sentences in word problem and inclusion of unnecessary or insufficient data play an important role in word problem solving. And on semantic aspects, correct answer ratio is influenced by the types of operation. Therefore students should have the chance to experience various word problems through all grades, and extend their mathematical problem solving ability in real life. Also we expect that lessons of word problem solving according to syntax and semantics factors help to increase of mathematical thoughts and creativities.
