ABSTRACT

Through adapting holistic education, which emphasizes balance, interconnectedness and integration, we can expect following positive effects.

First, the holistic education allows the integrated approach on morality. In other words, balanced and int egrated approach considers that moral emotion, moral behavior and moral practices should be also emphasized in moral education. This view is rather different from the position that moral knowledge, thinking power, discernment are key aspects in moral education, based on the position that core aspects of morality is exercising reasoning power.

Second, the holistic education reinforces the relationship between the objectives and methods. In other words, it enhances the effectiveness of moral education by linking moral knowledge and moral practices.

Third, the holistic education enhances public education through interconnecting school, family and community. It also emphasizes various types of action learning, which are effective to develop the students' competence.

Fourth, in holistic education, various types of teaching and learning methodologies, which considers the students and learning situation are possible. Not only clas srooms but also other types of places such as family, community and cyber space can be possible for teaching and learning.
